When the latest season of "The Vampire Diaries " began, a new vampire made her way into the highly abnormal supernatural town of Mystic Falls .
But fans don't have to worry, though Elena is now immortal, her annoyingly indecisive personality is still completely alive and with it, many problems.
Yes, she's with Stefan , but the writers of the show certainly want viewers to question if this will always be the case.
Damon , the ever-attractive eldest Salvatore brother, now wants to escape the confines of his slowly failing love life as Elena chose Stefan at the end of last season. But with her new lifestyle of vampirism she is slowly discovering, she's a lot like Damon.
Could a jump to the other Salvatore ship be a possibility? It would certainly mean more scenes with Ian shirtless –– a plus for every fan, no matter which Salvatore he or she is rooting for.
Elena is also slowly remembering things that she was banned from seeing as a human, most importantly that she met Damon first and that he said he loved her.
The new season also presents the addition of a new character, April Young , the pastor's daughter and the girl Elena used to babysit.
April is a likeable character, so it is safe to predict she isn't going to last very long. The writers love to kill characters off, just when viewers start to grow attached to them.
Though currently all April has given viewers is a near-death scene, an awkward beer shared with Elena and a curiosity about her father's death, she seems to be an important addition.
This season has begun in a lackluster manner. Things seem to resolve themselves rather quickly within the first three episodes.
Bonnie is less present in the last episodes, though no one can blame her since hanging around with Elena and her crew almost always brings her pain.
The latest episode, which aired on Oct. 25, made viewers question if Tyler is completely faithful to Caroline , a plot twist that will make viewers more uncomfortable than the scene when a needle was placed in Tyler's teeth, via the hands of the newest vampire hunter in town.
Because the council is conveniently gone, this hunter appeared. He shares a bond with Jeremy and has caught Klaus ' eye as valuable — thus making Elena's life important to him, once again.
The question that lingers is how important will he actually be and why.
Elena –– still battling with her transformation is plagued by guilt, heightened emotions, and her newest annoyance Rebekah, who is left alone after a bitter falling out with the most insane of family relatives, Klaus.
Things are still a mess in Mystic Falls. People will inevitably die soon and Elena will still exist as the heroine who happens to have the most attractive vampires fight for her affection.
Her future as a vampire and how it will affect those around her, as always, is the question. Let's just hope, it doesn't end with another character like the lovely dying. If you weren't moved during the graveyard scene with Damon and two episodes ago — you aren't watching this show correctly.

You won’t like her when she’s angry. On «The Vampire Diaries:» «The Rager» (aired Oct. 25, 2012 the newest vampire has anger management issues, the hybrid’s girlfriends has some secret competition, the evil original is back, the Salvatore brothers continue to charm everyone, and the new vampire hunter is more than meets the eye.
Elena (Nina Dobrev struggles with her rage and anger as she settles into her new vampire persona. Her hatred for Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt bubbles to the surface and all she wants to do is kill her. Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder finds Elena ransacking his bedroom. She lies and says she needs to good alcohol he keeps. Ha! He sees through that, although she has been known to engage in quite a bit of underage drinking.
He knows she’s looking for the white oak dagger that can kill the original vampire, also the ex-vamp of Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley. The new vampire shows up at mean girl Rebekah’s «anti-curfew» party with the dagger that Damon «reluctantly» gave her.
Stefan compels a random dude to give him his big red cup, Elena almost drinks it, but she doesn’t. The vampire hunter has secretly poisoned the keg with werewolf blood that he grossly extracted from Tyler’s gums. Nasty. It doesn’t seem like the hunter knows Tyler (Michael Trevino is a hybrid, so the blood may not have the full-on deadly effect as pure werewolf blood.
Elena drinks (shocker and so does Rebekah after she swipes Elena’s cup and her ring. Elena immediately starts burning in the sunlit kitchen (because in Mystic Falls they don’t wait until dark to break curfew! Rebels! The original tosses the ring in the garbage disposal but Elena retrieves it.
Stefan shows up to drag Elena away from the party. But first the goofy Elena decides to do a handstand on the keg, which seem to irk Rebekah even more than knowing Elena and Stefan get naked together. But first, they ride off into the daylight on Stefan’s motorcycle.
In one of the most laughable visuals of the entire series, Elena gets daring and stands up on the back of the motorcycle while it’s moving. She’s usually pretty reckless in her decisions. Now she can follow her impulses without worrying about dying.
While Elena and Stefan are getting hot and heavy after their joy ride, Elena starts imagining Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder on top of her. He even speaks to her, letting her know that as she changes she may turn out to be more like him than like Stefan on the vampire scale. This may seem bad at first, since Damon is usually set off as the «bad» brother, but he always has the right intentions and he has more self-control than his brother.
After she almost kills her ex-boyfriend, a.k.a the walking blood bag, Matt (Zach Roerig, Elena realizes this vampire thing is harder than she thought. She turns to Damon for help, knowing that right now she may want Stefan but she needs Damon.
Tyler was pretty naughty after he left Mystic Falls. He left to find a way to be «de-sired» from Klaus (Joseph Morgan and gain back his free will. So how does a hybrid de-sire from the original who made him? By sending some time in the Appalachians with a super hot she-wolf, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin.
The sexy werewolf shows up on Tyler’s door while he’s being protected by Klaus’ men. She’s affectionate and flirty and Tyler doesn’t seem to mind. He also doesn’t tell her about his girlfriend, Caroline (Candice Accola. She shows up at Tyler’s house and he brushes her off, without telling her about Hayley. If nothing happened in the woods, Tyler, you wouldn’t be keeping secrets on both ends. This will all come back to bite him. Yes, bite him.
Damon, being his cocky vampire self, goes to the vampire hunter’s trailer. He finds the pastor’s letter and then he gets shot with arrows that are attached to bombs. Oops. He calls the good doctor, Dr. Fell (Torrey Devitto to help him extract the arrows without blowing him up into pretty little bits.
Connor Jordan (Todd Williams waltzes into school and confronts Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen. He tell him the only people that can see his tattoo are vampire hunters and future vampire slayers. We also know that if Connor dies, another hunter will rise and take his place. It could be Jeremy, or the hunter could be wrong because he doesn’t know that Jeremy has been to the other side and it could just be a side effect of the magic.
Jeremy shows up at the hunter’s trailer as instructed, and they go find Dr. Fell. In the hospital, Damon traps Connor with the arrow/bomb trick. Ta-da! Klaus is there to help Damon and is ready to kill the hunter until he sees the markings on the stake. He calls the hunter «one of the five.»
The bombs are set off, Damon thinks it’s a good thing, but Klaus has saved the hunter to live another day. He reveals that the vampire hunter is worth more to him alive than dead. There’s also some history behind «the five» that Klaus was not ready to reveal.
* Stefan reaches out to Caroline and asks for her help with Elena. Is there a future romance in store for these two vampires?
* Rebekah is poisoned by the werewolf blood, but Klaus saves Elena with his blood.
* April (guest star Grace Phipps turns to Rebekah for friendship.

There are some things we will always know about . Stefan is unyieldingly sweet, Bonnie isn't always around, Damon never actually leaves when he says he will, and Elena is always wrong about getting through the given ordeal the "easy" way. The one thing we blissfully forgot during these last few episodes is that these people are all in high school (except for Damon and Klaus, of course. And what comes with being a teenager stuck in a silly little town going to high school with a bunch of people who don't understand you (and in the wake of a 10 PM town curfew too? Rage, and lots of it. All this anger makes for an Elena we've not yet seen, and it may be driving her back to Damon already. After finding that she does alright feeding on Matt's blood, Elena makes her old boyfriend her own personal blood buddy, taking just a teensy bit from his veins, but not enough to quench her thirst or provoke the ripper brewing inside her. It seems to work since he's eager to repay her for saving his life and sacrificing her own, but it's clear this can't last. When Elena gets to her first class, History, she gets into a tussle with Rebekah, who's all too eager to ruffle the new vamp's feathers. Between barbs (coming from both sides about being friendless, killing Alaric, and the fact that both girls have slept with Stefan, the episode quickly started to feel like a hybrid of Sweet Valley High and the Maury Show. The fact that a pencil shank got involved doesn't help the comparison. Still, as Elena pulled that pesky pencil out of her shoulder, I couldn't help but thank the TV powers that be that the scene was without hair-pulling. Give me pencil-daggers or hair-pulling any time. It's not long before Rebekah strikes again, taunting Elena with a compelled classmate whose neck is dripping with blood. The brand new vampire can't contain herself, and the incident causes her rage to boil over (which for Elena isn't really much above a loud simmer. Stefan convinces her she needs a break from school and convinces her to go to Rebekah's ditching party. (Side note: Kids, is this a thing? How the hell do you get school folks to not notice the fact that all the cool/fun kids are gone after lunch? This ditch-day party thing can't be real, right? When Elena gets there, it doesn't take her much time to share a little chat with April, who shares that she's convinced her father's death was no accident (if only she knew how right she was. In her continuing rage, Elena accuses Rebekah of killing the council members, which is a low blow for someone like Elena. Rebekah clearly never learned to control her own rage, and takes vengeance by taking Elena's daylight ring and forcing her into a crevice for safety. When she braves the sunlight long enough to retrieve her ring, she lunges for her bag, where's got the white oak stake, courtesy of one shirtless Damon. Luckily, Stefan is there to stop her. Verging on after school special voiceover, Stefan talks her off her rage ledge with two very important talking points. Yes, "rage is bad" made it in there, but it wasn't what drove it home. Stop one was the fact that millions of vampires would die with Rebekah, and step two was that the guilt would destroy her. Elena knows what that looks like, because she spent all last season witnessing the effects on Stefan. Still, she can't just let Rebekah's ring trick be the end of it: she makes sure to do a student-body-impressing keg stand on her way out. Then things get magical. A little too magical for my tastes. Stefan takes Elena on a magical mystery motorcycle ride, where she somehow uses her vampire abilities to defy gravity and stand on the back of the motorcycle and reach nirvana while looking ike a circus bear. Look, I want Stefan and Elena to have sweet moments as much as the next girl, but this is too much. Luckily, it's followed by a rabid makeout. Unluckily, that's cut short by Elena's sudden reaction to whatever was affecting Rebekah earlier (apparently, this includes visions of Damon. It turns out, our good friend Buffy (the nameless vampire hunter poisoned the keg with werewolf venom, and it's killing Elena. Klaus is miraculously willing to save Elena (because she still has the ability to serve some purpose for him yet again, oh my, but not before she has a vision of Damon telling her that the reason she keeps seeing him instead of Stefan is that she's more like Damon than she is like Stefan. Now, it could be that Elena is having fever dreams about Damon because she drank his blood. However, that is proved wrong when Rebekah (who also drank the werewolf-venom-infested beer has a fever dream of her own about Matt saying she's undeserving of love and her ripping his heart out. It turns out, she's just having fever dreams about Damon because like Rebekah, who's lusting after Matt even after she tried to kill him, Elena still has a thing for Damon. Plain and simple. And of course, she adds fuel to her own fire when she overfeeds on Matt in a fit of rage, forcing Damon to step in and undermine Stefan by taking up Elena's Vampire School teaching duties. And the strange thing is that Damon seems to be right, but we've spent the entire episode hearing about how Caroline thinks Stefan is the best teacher when it comes to transitioning from human to vampire. Is Elena just going down a dark path because Stefan's road is too hard? Or was her fever dream right? Is her vampire personality more suited to Damon's style than her human one was? Look at Caroline, she went from crazy, obsessive girl-freak, to a mildly-obsessive, sex-crazed sweetheart. Vampirism changes people, and Elena is clearly changing. This also means a Salvatore brother reunion is looking less and less likely each passing week. But she's not the only one morphing before our eyes. After Buffy attacks Tyler to extract his werewolf venom, Klaus moves back into town to set up protection around his "assets" (see: hybrids in a post-doppelganger world, which includes giving Tyler three bodyguards. When Caroline comes back to grab him for Rebekah's party, he's distant and cold, refusing to leave or to let her stay. It's because, just a few rooms over, he has his dirty little secret. Haley, one of the werewolves who helped him break his sire bond, has just flounced into town and she's all over Caroline's hybrid hunk. Klaus does the math for us: Tyler had a little sexual indiscretion during his spiritual awakening. Tyler's stunned look confirms it, and the only question that remains is which one will be the one to break the news to sweet Caroline? And what will she do when she finds out? Well, she might have to put whatever vengeance plans she might have post-secret for at least an episode. Buffy is sticking around, and now he's got the attention (and protection of Klaus. Buffy approaches Jeremy because only vampire hunters and future vampire hunters can see the "nice ink" on his arm, the tattooJeremy mentioned last week. Buffy enlists Jeremy to help him get to the town vampires, and luckily, he's working with Dr. Fell and Damon. After Damon gets booby-trapped in Buffy's trailer, he knows full well the problem they're dealing with, so Dr. Fell and Jeremy help lure Buffy to the hospital, where Damon and Klaus trap him and interrogate him until Klaus realizes what he is: He's one of "the Five." Whatever it is, it's something Klaus wants because when Buffy pulls the bomb trigger on his booby trap, Klaus makes sure to save him and promise him complete and total safety. Unfortunately, Buffy doesn't even understand the illustrious group he's a member of, so he isn't able to give us any details before the episode ended. Hey, they've got to leave is with a cliffhanger of some sort. Follow Kelsea on Twitter [Photo Credit: CW]

Vampire Diaries Voice Over fills us in again this week on the history of Mystic Falls and what happened last week. Elena turned, Damon yearned and the Council burned. It’s week two and I am already over the VDVO. It was interesting the first time to catch up a new viewer to the general history of the show but a simple "previously on The Vampire Diaries" really suffices. Plus the way Joseph Morgan delivers the line "and even hybrids" just sucks.
Stefan and Elena are all snuggly in the woods and we immediately flash back to I assume the previous night at Chez Salvatore. The brothers are arguing about Stefan’s plan to keep Elena on an animal diet. He believes if she never feeds on a human she’ll be better able to handle the blood lust. Damon insists it can’t work, that she needs to feed "from the vein" which sounds way dirty.
Elena walks in on the chest-thumping and tries to get Damon on board the "animal plan" but Damon’s not having it. "You’re a vampire, Elena. Be a vampire."
Intercut with the argument are snippets showing Stefan stalking a deer, Elena feeding from it Stefan reassuring her that the deer will recover. This whole transformation just is not going to work for me if Elena stays this precious.
Next Stefan tries to teach her the vampire zoom but giggly Elena is too distracted by his hands on her body, which, fair point, I would be too. The lesson turns into a shirtless makeout session but Elena’s feeling grumbly in her tumbly. She zooms off and spews up a bucket of Bambi blood.
Title card!
At Vampire Gitmo, AKA Pastor Young’s ranch, an attractive African American gentleman opens the door to the murder room.
He examines the gas line and the lighter and we flash back to the explosion scene which we just saw in the previouslys, show, give us a little credit for persistence of memory. He opens the oven and there’s an envelope inside addressed to an "April". He takes it and reads it and if he turns out to be April that would be hysterical.
Mystic Grill, still the only place in town with a liquor license apparently. Sheriff Liz finds Damon drinking his breakfast and confronts him with the newspaper story about the explosion. He notes the cover-up nature of the headline and Liz remarks that it’s better than "Town Council blown up, police have no suspects". Except for Damon, who assures her that if he were going to kill twelve people he’d "have a dinner party. Snerk.
Damon pipes the new fish, who approaches the Sheriff to ask about the fire. He introduces himself as Conner Jordan which I’m wondering if that’s a shout out to Angel, Green Lantern or maybe both.
Liz wonders if he has something to do with the insurance claim but he explains he’s "more of an independent contractor". He draws her aside to chat, conveniently ignoring Damon.
Cut to Mystic Falls High School where Jeremy and Matt, who I think is sporting a spiffy new haircut, are loading some boxes into an SUV. Jeremy exposits that they contain paper lanterns made by the student council which will be lit and released in remembrance of the dead Council members. Matt snarkily wonders whether the student council really thought through the "memorialize people who burned to death with fire" concept. Heh. Jeremy advises him not to crack wise in front of Elena.
Matt asks how she is, still feeling guilty that she was turned because Stefan saved him. He offers to do whatever he can, "short of giving her a ride". Matt is tearing it up tonight.
A new girl approaches Jeremy. He eventually recognizes her as April, Pastor Young’s daughter whom Elena used to baby-sit. She’s socially awkward and makes inappropriate gas line references so I guess she’s Jeremy’s new love interest? She explains that she’s not much for grief.
Elena calls Caroline from Stefan’s bedroom and leaves a voicemail, explaining she’s having adjustment issues. Stefan bounds in with a bottle of champagne from the year she was born to celebrate her first feed. I wonder if Hallmark makes a card for that. She’s not sure she should be celebrating since the blood made her sick and Stefan cranks up the gay with "Listen, I choked it down for a month before I could stomach the taste." Elena pops Stefan’s cork and they blather away about their feelings for a minute and kiss a bit before a phone call interrupts. It’s Damon, and Stefan gets all concerned.
Back at the Grill Elena confronts Damon about whether he arsoned the Council and he’s all "Am I wearing my ‘I Blew Up the Council’ t-shirt?" She confesses that she can’t keep the animal blood down. He suggests snacking on one of the customers, pointing out they have "Asian fusion, Mexican, how about some good old American comfort food?"
