The upcoming April 25 episode of Diaries will serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential spin-off series that would focus on the Original family. The pilot will follow Klaus (Joseph Morgan back to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — where he’s reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel. Elijah, intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.
The potential series would be in second position for Gillies, who is a series regular on Saving Hope, the Canadian series that NBC yanked before its first season ended when it aired last summer. However, CTV announced a second season for summer 2013 in Canada.
Should the episode prove successful, a spin-off of Diaries would be in consideration for next season that would be written and executive-produced by Julie Plec, alongside Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. Phoebe Tonkin, who plays werewolf Hayley on Diaries, would also star on the series.

You’d think that playing «The Vampire Diaries» villainous vampire-werewolf hybrid would keep Joseph Morgan busy, but the true artist never sleeps! Our favorite bad guy directed a short film, «Revelation,» over the summer, starring «Vampire Diaries» witch Persia White, best known from her role on «Girlfriends.» Now, Morgan has finally debuted the highly-anticipated thirty-second trailer.
The whole movie is about ten minutes long, and Morgan has submitted it for consideration in several festivals. In time, he plans to make the film available for fans to view online.
«Ultimately, the goal is to stream it online for free, but unfortunately, for some of the festivals we submitted it to, like Cannes, having it available online would immediately disqualify us, so I’m trying to do everything in the right order,» Morgan tells us. «I do feel a bit bad, because I tweeted about it so much and haven’t been able to release it yet, but my hope is eventually to have a screening in Atlanta and then to make it available for free online.»
Judging by the thirty-second sneak peek, we’re in for ten harrowing minutes when we finally get to see the whole thing. Just that final second of the trailer is going to haunt our nightmares tonight!
Morgan is currently gearing up to star in an upcoming backdoor pilot for his own «Vampire Diaries» spinoff, titled «The Originals,» which will see his character move to New Orleans’ supernatural hotbed, the French Quarter. The pilot will air April 25, 2013, as an episode of «The Vampire Diaries.»

Kresge awards DiChiera
Michigan Opera Theatre general director has been named the 2013 Kresge Eminent Artist. The award, which comes with a $50,000 prize, is the Troy-based Kresge Foundation’s annual lifetime achievement award in the arts. It is the most prestigious and lucrative local prize in the field of culture.
DiChiera, 77, has long been recognized as one of Detroit’s contemporary visionaries. Early on, he saw how culture could be deployed not only for its intrinsic value but also as a way to rebuild the city. He founded MOT in 1971, building an opera company from scratch where there had been none, and later led the renovation of the $65-million Detroit Opera House.
DiChiera has also championed color-blind casting and produced nationalist operas that spoke specifically to various ethnic communities as a way of building bridges within Detroit’s multicultural landscape.
In recent years, DiChiera has reconnected with his past as a trained composer. His opera, «Cyrano,» a well-received setting of the Cyrano de Bergerac tale written in a lushly neoromantic musical idiom, premiered in Detroit in 2007 and had subsequent performances in Philadelphia and Miami.
Previous Kresge Eminent Artists have been poet , poet and playwright , jazz trumpeter and visual artist .

It’s funny that last night’s «Vampire Diaries» episode was titled «After School Special,» because that’s what I’ve been calling basically all of the episodes this season. But this post-hiatus return was a good sign; instead of the overly sappy, overly righteous characters and plotlines and motivations we were getting before, we got tight, well-paced plotlines that set up for future (hopefully exciting developments. In fact, I didn’t even mind this recap-reset-get-ready-plot-oriented episode (because, as you know, I hate all episodes that don't involve flashbacks and character development and Originals, which is why I'm SO. BEYOND. EXCITED. for the potential Originals spin-off.
And that was mainly because of:
Rebekah Man, what an original bitch! I have to say I was forgetting why our main hang gang hates her so much. I mean, sure, she's done some crappy things, but haven't we all (ahem, Stefan, Damon, everyone, basically? And Bex, more than anyone, just wants to be loved and accepted. I mean, that's one of the main reasons why she wants the cure. (I know this because the «Previously on ‘The Vampire Diaries’» told me so! But tonight was bad. Real bad. First she was playing games with Stefan's heart (the Backstreet Boys would not have approved, gathering Stefan and Elena and Caroline into the library at school to catch her up on what she missed, being daggered and all. Bex compelled everyone to tell her things: Stefan said Elena slept with Damon, Elena said she was in love with Damon and while she loved Stefan, she was no longer in love with him. It was jolly good fun, and by that I mean it was the exact opposite. She was plain old cruel, pals, and it got even better when she called Tyler, compelled everyone to stay in the school, and then compelled Tyler to turn. Honestly, it was bats–t crazy, there were stakes (not the white oak kinds or anything, just stakes, plot-wise, and I was freaking out! Rebekah actually didn't care if they died; she got what she wanted out of them (after making Elena and Stefan painfully recount the details of their failed relationship, she found out that Shane was the way to get to the cure, and viewed them as competition—whoever got to the cure first decided what to do with it. And homegirl wants that lady to be her.
Down in, or up in, or wherever the heck the lake house is, Damon and Jeremy and Matt were training Jeremy in the ways of vampire hunting. Since Alaric croaked way back when, Damon was the only instructor available, so they were all out there, doing their thing, hanging out in white wifebeaters and looking more and more muscly by the day (meaning Jeremy, of course. Klaus arrived, all huffed and puffed like the wolf that he (half is, because he needed Jeremy's mark to grow, like, now, so he could get that cure and cure Elena and make more hybrids. You know, because the whole hybrid-making motivation thing still makes sense. Right. There was a difference of opinion, because Klaus wanted to turn a bunch of people into vampires and then have Jeremy kill them, but everyone else was against that. Until the end. Where everyone was still against that, except for Klaus and Damon. And I wagged my finger at Damon in disappointment, just a little bit.
Bonnie, Shane, and all that weirdness Apparently, Bonnie «graduated» from Dark Magic—er, Expression—College! Hooray! Shane gave her a talisman made of human bone, which you should remember, because it becomes important later when Kol (YEAH AN ORIGINAL VAMPIRE THAT WE HARDLY SEE, RETURNED tried to drown and impale Shane. Luckily, Bonnie used the talisman to cast a protection spell, which was not so lucky because she inadvertently tied April to Shane, which caused April to start spitting out water and drowning in the open air and also almost bleed to death. April was there—(wait, why is April ever there?—because she woke Rebekah up pre-hiatus, I think. And Rebekah spent all this time telling April how Elena and Stefan and Caroline and everyone lied and such. Which was kind of true, but mostly silly, because Rebekah pretty much did the same.
Bonnie's Dad This was something. He's the new mayor! It’s weird how critics are all talking about this development; yes, he's been absent from the show for, basically, ever, but he's not returning; Bonnie's been living with him the whole time. In fact, she's the only one with an appropriate guardian, minus Caroline. Honestly, Liz and Rudy (Bonnie's dad's name better watch out, because the showrunners are gonna be after them, in order to turn this show into a conveniently parent-free zone. Anyway, I could swear that I saw Bonnie's dad in the first season, played by a different actor, of course, but I've tried to research it, and I think I was probably just making it up.
Other Things -Kol and Rebekah are, like, terrified of Silas. It's always weird when the baddest baddies are scared of someone, but I want to know why they're so scared of Silas, considering they're convinced he's not real. Silas was apparently the first immortal being, which is interesting because I was sort of thinking that the Originals were. But why is he a threat? I guess we'll find out when Shane digs that dude up.
-It was a really nice tool to have Rebekah compel all the kids in the library. I just really dug it, guys. We got all this info quickly, it was all clever, and trapping them all there was like «The Breakfast Club,» vampire style. Except instead of bringing them together, Principal Mikaelson's plan was to tear them apart.
-Yo, did you see when Elena and Damon talked on the phone at the end of the episode? I don't even know why I'm asking; you obviously did. Did your heart die (in a good way when Elena told Damon she loved him twice, and Damon's face was just like SO FREAKING HAPPY WITHOUT SMILING? It was a great face, really, Ian Somerhalder. A total upgrade from your usual eyebrow glares. I JUST MELTED, AND IT WAS WONDERFUL.
-I get that we all have a goal and we need to get this cure, and I'm excited to learn more about it and Silas and raising the dead and shiz, but why is everyone so obsessed with getting it for Elena (besides Klaus, his reason is obvious? Like, Elena's such a wonderful person—she's simply too good to be a vampire? It's kind of ridiculous considering that all our favorite characters are vampires. Like, what about Caroline? She does a pretty great job of being a human while being a vampire. It's just pretty annoying, showrunners. I even like Elena now (at least this episode I did, and I just think it's a really silly premise. Sorry.
-Who else is Shane working with? I kind of thought he was plotting with the Originals, so obviously that's not happening. But, like, doesn't this just go to show that the Originals are not our enemies, guys? Shane is trying to do something evil! Klaus and Rebekah and Kol are just 1,000-year-old teenagers with daddy issues. And super strength. And the power of mind control. No big thang. Anyway, let's get with the program and figure this out, heroes!
-Why Elena rocks: (yes, you read that right she said, lately I feel like I'm a project. Like I'm a problem that needs to be fixed. I think I make Stefan sad. But I can't be with someone like that, because when he looks at me, all he sees is a broken toy. To quote my notes: WOW, YOU GO GIRL! Stefan's all devastated and reeking of alcohol because of Elena being a vampire trollop who likes bad boys (point Rebekah, but I don't feel bad at all. Elena said it best: she's a person, not a project. Stop trying to control her, fool.
-Rebekah and Stefan are now partners in the hunt for the cure. He still wants to cure Elena, cause he's a fool. I wanted to think of it like Stefan and Katherine teaming up, but it's just not the same.
Till next week: What did you think of «TVD»‘s return? Did you dig Elena as much as I did? Will Kol stick around? What kinds of trouble is Bonnie's dad's new involvement in the town and her life going to cause? Are Rebekah and Stefan going to become partners in more than just the hunt for the cure? Were you shocked that Shane revealed that he was behind all the massacres (even though the audience already knew? Do you think he believes what he told Bonnie about expression not being dark? When is Bonnie going to figure out his true agenda? Whatever happened to Jamie, her pseudo brother/boyfriend? Aren't she and Jeremy going to get it on after hunter camp? Are you almost mad at Caroline for being so tight with Stefan, considering how manipulative he's being in terms of Elena? Tell me more, tell me more. «Grease»-style. You can even sing it, although I won't know it if you do. So be sure to say that you're singing! That way I can get the whole picture. Indeed.

After a month's hiatus, The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday (The CW, 8 p.m. ET with a new episode that begins a new chapter for the show — the war for the cure. Claire Holt's Rebekah returns after (once again being daggered by her brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan and she wants two things: Revenge and an update. "Rebekah gathers Stefan, Elena, and Caroline in the high school and she basically psychologically tortures them," Holt says. "She questions them about the tattoo, and the cure, and Stefan and Elena's relationship, and it brings some uncomfortable truths to light. It's definitely going to be much more difficult for Caroline, Elena, and Stefan than it is for Rebekah."
Some of the those "uncomfortable truths," when spoken, will draw audible gasps/empathy groans from fans. The script certainly elicited a response from Holt. "I was so excited, I texted [showrunner Julie Plec] immediately after I read it, and I was like, 'Ohmygosh, thank you so much. I love this episode,'" Holt says. "It was one of the few moments where Rebekah truly is in control and she loves that. It was so fun to play this 'Truth or Dare' game. It was one of my favorite episodes."
We know from the promo that Rebekah and Klaus' brother Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic also returns in the episode. "He's there to help Rebekah get the answers that she wants, and he brings Shane [David Alpay] to the school for questioning as well," Holt says. "The result isn't too great for Shane."
As for Rebekah's relationship with Klaus, Holt says, "She's so devastated that he's betrayed her. He's done it so many times now, I'm not sure that they're going to be able to rebuild that trust. It would take a lot and be a long journey for them, if they were to ever be as close as they used to be. Both of them now are more out for themselves. Her goal it to find the cure, and she doesn't really care about anyone else."
It's tough to tell whether that makes it more or less likely that the proposed Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals, centered on Klaus, would have a place for Rebekah. "We haven't read a script yet for [the April TVD episode that will serve as backdoor pilot]," Holt says. "I guess we'll just have to wait to find out."

Sadly, star Keri Russell is not one of them. She told reporters at a recent junket that she’s enjoying her new gig as a butt-kicking KGB sleeper agent on FX’s «The Americans,» which debuts Jan. 30.
«The cool part of this job is experiencing that kind of masculine aggression,» Russell, 36, said. «There are many things that you would like to do, and you’re afforded to do a few of those things. But this is the thing that came my way right now, and it’s interesting to me.»
Meanwhile, Scott Speedman recently joked in the January/February issue of Playboy, that if he were to do a «Felicity» reunion, he’d have some caveats.
«I’ve thought about a ‘Felicity’ sequel,» Speedman said. «People want a reunion. I joke that I’d totally do it if it’s years later and my character, Ben, weighs 500 pounds. He’s a shut-in, and they’re bringing paramedics and pulleys to get him out of bed.»
But a «Felicity» reunion isn’t impossible, right? J.J. Abrams, who created the show, told THR he misses «Felicity» more than his other old series, «Lost» and «Alias.» So there’s that.
«I miss writing for a show that doesn’t have any sort of odd, almost sci-fi bend to it,» said Abrams, one of the executive producers behind NBC’s «Revolution,» adding that it was exciting coming up with stories for a series without risks and a villain. «It was just sort of pure, romantic, sweet characters who had crushes on one another and were dealing with which party to go to and if they had a part-time job or not — stuff that was kind of fun to write about.»
And Ian Gomez, who played Javier on «Felicity,» was less sardonic than Speedman when he told Latina magazine that he’d love to do a quasi-reunion on his show, «Cougar Town.»
«I’m trying to get the whole cast of ‘Felicity’ to come on,» Gomez said. «Scott Speedman and Keri Russell would be wonderful, and the whole gang — we can have a mini ‘Felicity’ reunion!»
So, for the record Abrams and Gomez are more nostalgic about «Felicity» than Russell and Speedman? Got it.
«Cougar Town» airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TBS. «The Americans» debuts Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. And «Revolution» returns Monday, March 25, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

Vampires, hybrids, witches, and werewolves. It’s hard to keep track of all of The Vampire Diaries species. And things only get more confusing when you throw in all the other characters, historical events, mythology and supernatural objects.
Based on a series of books, the show stars Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert as a former high school cheerleader whose world was turned upside when her parents died. Soon after she met the mysterious and handsome Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley and his brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder and before she knew it was thrown into the world of the Mystic Falls supernatural. (And little did she know at the time, she too had some «special» characteristics.
Now in its fourth season, The Vampire Diaries has introduced viewers to Elena, Stefan and Damon’s expanding group of allies and enemies and has opened up the tomb, so to speak, on the mythology that lies among them. In anticipation of the CW show’s return from its winter hiatus (woo hoo!, we decided to offer a little extra help in keeping everything straight. Below, we break down every aspect of the show, from A to Z.
A: Alaric, the history teacher/vampire hunter/father figure to Elena who was killed in the Season 3 finale.
B: Bunnies, an alternative that allows vampires to feed without killing humans.
C: Council, the group created by the founding families to protect the town from vampires.
D: Doppelgangers, a handful of women descending from the Petrova family line that includes Elena. Their blood can link different beings with the aid of a spell and can be used to fulfill curses. For example, it was used to turn Klaus, an Original (see below into a hybrid.
E: Elijah, the brother to Klaus and a fan-favorite character, who comes and goes as he sees fit. Some see him as the most moral of the Original vampires.
F: Founder’s Day, a yearly Mystic Falls event and also the name of the Season 1 finale that ended with many of the town’s vamps getting killed.
G: Grimoire, a witch’s book of spells.
H: Hybrids, the species that are half vampire, half werewolf.
I: Isobel, Elena’s biological mother who ended up marrying Alaric before becoming a vampire and being presumed dead.
J: Journals, the documentation Jonathan Gilbert left behind about the Mystic Falls vampires from the 1800s. Elena and Stefan have carried on the tradition of keeping diaries.
K: Katherine, Elena’s doppelganger who turned the Salvatore Brothers into vampires in 1864.
L: LJ Smith, the author of the Vampire Diaries book series upon which the show is based.
M: Mystic Falls, the mythical town in Virginia where the series is set.
N: Naked, the state of dress in which Damon loves to be. (And we don’t mind.
O: Originals, the first existing group of vampires that cannot be killed except by a dagger made of ash from the white oak tree.
P: Pearl, a vampire, who was friends with Katherine (a Petrova doppelganger. She was entombed in Fell’s Church from 1864-2010, but was killed by Uncle John (Elena’s biological father a few weeks after being released.
Q: Qetsiyah, the witch, who, along with Silas, created the spell of immortality.
R: Ripper, Stefan’s nickname from his wild and reckless days as a raging vampire in the 1920s.
S: Sire bond, the link between a species and his/her creator that makes them inherently loyal. Rare in vampires, it was recently discovered Elena is sired to Damon.
T:Talisman, a tool used by witches to carry out more powerful spells. The first ever witch Ayanna gave her talisman to Esther (Klaus and Elijah’s mom, who used it to turn her family into the first group of vampires.
U: Undead, the state vampires live in until they’re permanently staked.
V: Vervain, the deadly concoction that is a vampire’s biggest weakness.
W: Wickery Bridge, the place where all bad things happen (i.e. Elena’s parents die, Elena dies.
X: X-ray vision, a super power that vampires actually don’t possess.
Y: Young, the last name of the pastor/vampire hunter who was also the head of the Town Council and was eviscerated in a suicide explosion.
Z: Zero, the number of times the gang has been successful in taking down Klaus for good.
What would you include in you’re A-to-Z list? The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday at 8/7c on The CW.
Once the credits rolled on «The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn: Part 2,» you probably thought that the heyday of the brooding, sparkly vampire was finally at an end…you fool. Don’t you realize that Edward and Bella’s story will never be over?! Never! YOU WILL PRY IT FROM OUR COLD, DEAD HANDS. And next up in our never-ending love affair with all things «Twilight»: a just-announced new edition of «The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,» releasing March 23 on DVD and Blu-ray, that contains a whopping eight additional minutes of never-before-seen footage from the film.
Director Bill Condon has promised both new and extended scenes, selected for their particular appeal to fans of the literary source material—which means that diehard «Twilight» fans should be getting super-psyched at the chance to see more (more! MOAR!!! of their favorite bits from the book on the big screen. And while we’re not exactly picky about what those eight precious minutes consist of, we’ve still got a little wishlist of scenes we’re hoping to see get bigger and beefier in the extended cut. For instance:
The wedding Considering how hard Alice worked to get all the details just right, it would be nice to see some extended footage of Edward and Bella’s nuptials.
The bed-breaking honeymoon sex A few extra minutes of Robert Pattinson shattering the headboard in the throes of vampire ecstasy? Yes, please!
The birth of Renesmee Admittedly, we could barely watch Mr. Cullen biting his newborn child out of the womb the first time around…but for those with stronger stomachs, a beefed-up birth video could be just the ticket.
Charlie Swan’s mustache With eight whole minutes of previously-unseen footage, surely it can’t be too much to hope that at least six of those minutes are lovingly dedicated to an extended closeup of Daddy Swan’s divinely mustachioed upper lip.
What do you hope will be on the extended cut of «The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!

The sun goes down at 5:02 p.m., and my version of Twilight Saga: Hypothermia begins.
Because we skipped winter last year, I'd forgotten about it.
But during a brief brain thaw the other day, it came to me again.
I'm a mammal.
I'm supposed to hibernate.
Instead, I'm trudging around in the cold and snow.
And every evening, as I leave work and dark descends, my Twilight Saga begins again.
Instead of getting involved in a heartrending and hopeless romance and sucking blood, I crawl under the nearest afghan, armed or unarmed, and take a nap.
I fall into a restless sleep in which my feet are always cold and I dream of breaking into car repair shops, sinking my fangs in soft radiator hoses and drinking my fill of antifreeze.
A brief, happy, moment arrives when I spot antifreeze color liquids for sale as sports drinks in convenience stores. But happiness quickly turns to nightmare again.
The other day I flashed back to the a movie based on Russian author Alexander Solzhenitsyn's "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich."
It's the story of some poor Russian political prisoner Siberia who works all day in a Siberian labor camp while being fed soup with fish eyes floating in it.
That makes it the Soviet vodka-aided hangover version of what happens every January when Christmas passes and Frosty the Snowman morphs into Charlie the Curb Crust.
The film rating bypasses PG-13 or R and goes straight to wind chill.
And that's another thing I'd forgotten about last year: the Alberta Clipper that blows through my house each winter about three inches off the floor, sending cockroaches scuttling around for their earmuffs.
Starting in November, my thinning ankle hair is whipped by steady winds of 25-35 mph winds with gusts to 45. Instead of scattering bits of branches like the outdoor wind, this wind turns the veins in my ankles blue and scattered bits of my frozen and shattered toenails around.
Since they don't seem to pick up the winds on Doppler radar, I'm thinking about taking a picture of my frost-bitten bunion with a sunset background and sending it in to Jamie Simpson.
I figure my world will be brightened, if not warmed if I hear him say "Thanks to Frostydigits in Springfield."
This winter does bring good news on the technology front.
Those cameras that allow you to see behind you while you're backing?
They mean we no longer have put our chins on the front dashboard and look through the slit the defroster has cleared at the bottom of the front windshield while waiting for the car to warm.
We can just drive backwards.
That's a plus because once the front wipers are worn down by weeks of scraping across ice, it takes less time for the wires in the rear window to melt the frost anyway. And once they're clear, we can make the switch from camera view to the large screen to navigate.
Because it's impossible to text and drive while the fingers are frozen, driving backwards may be safer, anyway.
One thing technology can't fix is age. And at mine, winter mornings involve scraping a layer of frost off my soul before getting out of bed.
Still, I am warmed by the thought that I've charted a way out of this mess.
I'm going to sign on as part of a National Geographic team that tracks the annual migration of seniors from Ohio to Florida, step by step.
It will cover:
The animal urge to migrate triggered by the combination of the angle of sunlight at the winter solstice and the urge to flee after Christmas overspending.
The insincere tearful goodbyes to relatives and neighbors soon to be abandoned to the cold.
The five-day trip through Atlanta, including driving delays at the airport.
The removal of the tarp in the carport and unchaining of the oversize tricycles chained from picnic table.
The cold, I'm afraid, has made me truly bipolar: convinced I'll have to live out my days at the North or South pole.
After years of lingering glances (and a few stolen kisses, The Vampire Diaries‘Elena and Damon are finally together. But is this a good thing?
While fans have been divided since Day One over whether Elena should be with Damon or his brother Stefan, we here at TVGuide.com have also been divided. There’s no denying our love for both Salvatores, but while some of us (aka Robyn are thrilled Team Delena has finally come to fruition, others (aka Sadie believe Damon is better off alone. Here are our arguments for both sides of the equation.
Sadie Says: Damon deserves better Though Elena’s feelings for Damon might be real, there’s no denying part of her still loves Stefan. A love that strong doesn’t just disappear overnight (and remember, it wasn’t too long ago that Elena broke Damon’s heart after choosing Stefan over him. Damon would give anything for Elena, but can you really say she’d do the same for him? Damon deserves someone that loves him only and doesn’t waver in her affections — something Elena can never provide. When it comes right down to it, Damon’s just too good for her.Robyn Says: Their chemistry can’t be denied!Damon hasn’t been a saint and in many ways intentionally or subconsciously drove Elena away from him because he felt she was too good for him. For a guy who jumps in and out of women’s beds, he needs a girl to provide him with stability and show him that he’s worthy of love. And while she has often chosen Stefan over him, there’s a reason she keeps coming back despite Damon not being the safe choice
Sadie Says: Elena needs to live for herself Elena is constantly the pawn in someone else’s game, so she, more than anyone, deserves the autonomy vampirism can bring. But instead of discovering her independence, Elena found herself sired to Damon. I had hoped becoming a vampire would be Elena’s breakout opportunity to go after what she truly wants, but now she can’t separate her desires from Damon’s will. Destiny’s Child was right when they said, «Ladies, it ain’t easy bein’ independent,» but Elena at least deserves a chance to try!Robyn Says: Damon’s support makes Elena stronger … and cooler!Damon was the only one urging her to let herself give into vampirism — good, bad and ugly. It’s not his fault that her wants and desires lead her back to him. In fact, Damon might be the first person to truly allow Elena to be herself whereas everyone else is constantly judging her actions. With him by her side, she’s as independent as we’ve ever seen her. Besides, have you ever seen her have as much fun as she’s had in the last two episodes?
Sadie Says: Damon’s driving a wedge between Elena and Caroline Caroline hasn’t always been my favorite character, but over the seasons she’s grown into the most sensible and sweet of Mystic Fall’s supernatural squad. That’s why it breaks my heart to see Damon come between Elena and her best friend (and ruin a completely pleasant girls night!. While Caroline can be a little harsh, she’s just trying to protect Elena from the same pain and heartache Damon put her through years ago. Plus, isn’t there a rule in the girl code about ho’s before bros (not to mention, against dating your BFF’s ex?Robyn Says: Damon is not responsible for maintaining Elena’s friendshipsI’ll be the first to say how much I love Caroline, but the girl has a grudge against Damon that she’ll never let go of. Besides, Elena and Damon’s relationship has led Caroline and Stefan to become even closer, which is a friendship I’m so happy to see be explored. And rules about dating friends’ exes certainly don’t apply to Vampire Diaries, especially Caroline since she’s dated the most guys in the group.
Sadie Says: The sire bond makes girls crazy! The bond might not change how you feel, but that doesn’t mean it’s void of serious consequences. After Damon ditched her, Charlotte literallycounted every brick on every building in all of New Orleans — for 70 years! But because it was all to «make Damon happy,» Charlotte didn’t regret it one bit. And while Damon would never treat Elena’s free will so flippantly, we’ve already seen how easily Damon can hurt her. «She almost died to make you happy!» Stefan pointed out, once they discovered Damon’s the reason Elena couldn’t drink from a blood bag. Call me old-fashioned, but that does not sound like the foundation of a healthy relationship!Robyn Says: Damon has good intentions despite the sire bond’s powerCharlotte was crazy from Day One, and in Damon’s defense, he thought he freed her of the bond with the fake spell. And in terms of Elena, this all happened before he was aware that she was sired to him. Even Stefan admitted that Damon loves her as much as he does and when it comes down to it will always do right by her, even if it means letting her go
Sadie Says: Dating brothers is weirdI know it’s television and the Salvatores have always had a weird relationship when it comes to women, but seriously: dating brothers is never OK. Life is not The Family Stone. Imagine the holidays, the family dinners — how could they not be awkward? And didn’t Katherine teach Stefan and Damon anything? Sharing is good, but not when it comes to girlfriends!Robyn Says: The sibling conflict drives the showOK, fine, but the brotherhood is the foundation of the show and is tested most when it involves love. So without them going after the same person, perhaps we’d never see just how deep their love — and sometimes hatred — for each other goes, and without that, the show would be boring.
Sadie Says: Damon loves Elena a little too much The real problem with Damon isn’t that he’s a «psychopath narcissist» — it’s that his heart is too big! All Elena wants is for her loved ones to live long and happy lives, but Damon doesn’t care about Elena’s wishes as long as he gets what he wants — her. When Elena and Matt were drowning after the crash, Stefan listened to Elena’s pleads to save Matt first because he understood that was the only way to make Elena happy. Damon, on the other hand, would kill anyone — even one of Elena’s best friends — to save her life. Though he’s much more sensitive, Damon’s still just as selfish as when we met him in Season 1.Robyn Says: Is there such a thing as too much love?At the end of the day, I’d rather be with a person who loves me too much rather than not enough and it’s a positive thing that the self-proclaimed selfish vampire would do anything in the world for this girl. And can you not make the same argument about Stefan? If he didn’t fall for her so hard, he would’ve been OK to leave her and her friends alone, never involving them in the supernatural world within Mystic Falls.

The arrival of a 'totally unexpected enemy' causes Elena to act recklessly — like she needs an excuse.
If there's one thing Elena (Nina Dobrev is good at — besides leading men on and screwing with their minds — it's thoughtlessly throwing herself in harm's way. And it looks like she'll be living up to her reputation on the Jan. 24 episode of The Vampire Diaries, titled "Catch Me If You Can," as she "comes up with her own daring plan" to save Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen from himself.
According to The CW's official description for the episode, Elena tries to strike up a deal with Klaus (Joseph Morgan to ensure her brother's safety, "but when danger suddenly appears from a totally unexpected enemy," she's forced to resort to Plan B.
So who's this "totally unexpected enemy?" Me thinks the answer can be found somewhere in the spoilers below:
Six More Spoilers From 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 4, Episode 11
1. Klaus puts Matt's (Zach Roerig life in danger in an attempt to control Jeremy.
2. Damon (Ian Somerhalder becomes Jeremy's coach, as the young Gilbert "prepares to take on Klaus' new vampires."
3. Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic returns to Mystic Falls and "he will stop at nothing to convince everyone to give up the search for the cure."
4. Rebekah (Claire Holt reminds Stefan (Paul Wesley that they were "once good friends," though I remember them being a lot more than just "friends."
5. Professor Shane (Dave Alpay is questioned by the authorities "about his involvement in the Founders' Council deaths.
6. Shane pushes Bonnie (Kat Graham "to the edge of her powers."
Do you think Kol is the 'unexpected enemy' that prompts Elena to protect Jeremy? Is Bonnie being pushed too far? And is anyone else worried that Stefan and Rebekah might get a little TOO friendly? Drop me a comment with your thoughts and theories!
